Capture 360° image

In Panomio you can build immersive courses that put learners in the center of a virtual environment. To create this virtual environment, you need a 360° image. When you upload a 360° image in Panomio, you create a Scene - visual background for your course.

Choosing your equipment

For most training scenarios, a consumer 360° camera is the right choice. It's affordable, easy to use on location, and produces a ready-to-use image instantly.

If your environment contains fine detail that learners need to zoom in on, such as a cockpit or a complex control panel, consider a professional setup or a hired 360° photographer for higher resolution.

Before you shoot

  • Make sure the space is well lit and free of clutter that doesn't belong in the training.
  • Place the camera in the center of the space you want learners to experience.

Checking your result

Zoom in on the image before uploading. If you can clearly read labels and text in the scene, it will work well in Panomio. If details are blurry, try better lighting or move the camera closer.

⚠️ Do not use your phone's built-in panorama mode. Panomio will not recognise it as a 360° image.

We've created a detailed guide on 360° images, including the various types available and the best technology for different purposes. You can access the guide here.

Before you get your own 360° image, you can test creating courses in Panomio using our 360° image samples here.
